Oncomatryx Wins Best Pitch in the Oncology Session at BIOSPAIN 2026

The company, attending its first edition as a member of AseBio, also took part in a roundtable on how collaboration can shorten the path from the lab to the clinic.

DERIO (Bizkaia), 2nd October 2026 – Oncomatryx has won the attendees’ vote for best pitch in the oncology session of BIOSPAIN 2026, the largest biotechnology event in Spain. Organized by the Spanish Association of Biocompanies (AseBio), the event was held from 29 September to 1 October at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC). The award comes with a free registration to BIOSPAIN 2027.

On September 29, Business Development Associate Teresa Rodríguez-Carmona García presented the company’s approach of targeting metastatic solid tumors through their microenvironment rather than the tumor cell, along with the clinical progress of its lead candidate, OMTX705, an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being evaluated in clinical trials at leading hospitals in Spain and the United States.

The next day, our CEO, Laureano Simón joined the roundtable “Accelerating Oncology Innovation: Collaborative Models for Early Translation,” moderated by Sofía Cabezudo (AECC Scientific Foundation), with Arkaitz Carracedo (Ikerbasque Research Professor at CIC bioGUNE), Eider Sánchez (CEO of Naru Healthcare) and Fernando Aguirre (CEO of HAWK Biosystems). Laureano explained that each component of Oncomatryx’s ADCs stems from a collaboration: the antibody grew out of its work with Professor Roland Kontermann at the University of Stuttgart; the conjugation chemistry builds on the expertise of Professor Franco Dosio at the University of Turin; and the cytolysin payload came with Tube Pharmaceuticals, the Austrian company Oncomatryx acquired in 2023. The panel also discussed the role of patients across research, industry and clinical trials. “Patients are the reason we are here,” said Simón.

During the event, Oncomatryx also met with potential partners to discuss OMTX705 and its Quantum-ADC platform, which uses artificial intelligence and quantum computing to optimize the design and selection of ADC clinical candidates. The company’s next stop is Boston, where from 21 to 30 October it will take part in Desafía Boston, an acceleration and immersion program for Spanish healthcare biotech companies organized by the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX).

About Oncomatryx

Oncomatryx is a Spanish biopharmaceutical company, headquartered in the Basque Country with a global outlook, that pioneered targeting metastatic solid tumors through their microenvironment rather than the tumor epithelial cell. The company has also built a platform designed to generate multiple candidates and advance them through clinical proof of concept for licensing to major pharmaceutical companies, spanning the full cycle of research, clinical development and in-house manufacturing that today defines industry leaders.

Oncomatryx is the only biotech company designated strategic by Spain’s Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and has received in 2025 an EIC Accelerator grant from the European Union, one of five life sciences companies selected out of 950 applicants.
